The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO), in partnership with the APCEIU Youth Leadership Workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED), is now accepting applications for its tenth edition. This workshop, organized by the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), aims to empower youth leaders to advocate for global citizenship and drive changes toward a culture of peace through education.

This year’s theme, “Youth Voices for Transforming Education through GCED,” invites young leaders to engage in active discussions and share experiences with peers worldwide.

Below are the main objectives of the workshop:

• Renew participants’ commitment to transformative education
• Deepen understanding of vision and emerging GCED issues
• Enhance capacity to implement GCED activities locally
• Build and strengthen networks in GCED

Eligibility Criteria

Some general requirements of the Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED are as follows:

• Applicants must be youth leaders actively engaged in GCED.
• Have bornt between 1996 and 2005
• Provide two years of work experience in youth activities
• Complete the e-learning course under the title of GECD for Youth and attach their obtained certificate
• Have spoken and written English proficiency
• Open to citizens of ODA recipient countries and the Republic of Korea listed below:

Orientation: April 29, 2024

Pre-Workshop Study: April 30 – May 3, 2024

• Includes self-paced study and small group discussions facilitated by the GCED Youth Network

Online LIVE Workshop: May 6 – May 10, 2024

• Features lectures and interactive activities on GCED with international experts and youth leaders
• Includes sharing of youth advocacy initiatives on GCED and an action planning exercise

Mentorship & Project Implementation: May – October 2024

• Exclusively for selected winners.

 Selection Process

The following is the selection process:

• Applicants must complete the pre-requisite e-learning course
• The screening committee will evaluate the applications considering gender and geographical balance
• Submit the application form by the deadline.
• The selection committee will send the results on April 23, 2024 (KST).
• All selected participants should register by April 25, 2024 (KST)
