About the award

The world academy of science (TWAS) offers an annual cash prize supported by Prof.Fayzah Al-Kharafi and will rotate among various fields of science. This opportunity is only for women with a Ph.D. degree from a science and technology-lagging country (STL). Therefore, if you are a female scholar with a Ph.D. degree in social science and you are from developing countries, read the details and do not miss the opportunity.

The 2021 nomination is open only for medical sciences.

Eligibilities:

  • Applicants must have at least two years of work experience in one of the eligible countries.
  • TWAS members, as well as science academies, national research councils, universities, and scientific organizations in developing and developed countries, are eligible to nominate their candidates.
  • There is NO age limit for this award.
  • Must be national of one of the developing countries.
  • Must have made a significant achievement in medical sciences.
  • Self-nominations are not acceptable by candidates. themselves.

Selection process 

The first screening of the online application will be conducted by TWAS, the second step will be done by the jury members. Finally, Prof. Al-Kharafi will choose the winner.

Materials that should accompany a nominee’s nomination package: 

  • Nominator contact info.
  • Contact details of nominees
  • Nominee’s authorization with the h/her signature.
  • Outline the candidate’s achievements and awards in chemistry in 15 to 20 words.
  • Support statement, including candidate’s work experience in scientific context and its impact, etc.
  • A detailed account of candidates’ time spent out of his/her home country in the last two years.
  • PhD. degree details, including the field of study, year of award, and institutions.
  • Details on any academies and societies he/she is their member.
  • Brief details of any honor or distinctions received.
  • List of 10 most prominent publications in an internationally acceptable format.
  • Comprehensive yet short CV of the candidates.
  • The nominee’s h-index in Google Scholar and its related number of citations.
