About the vacancies

South Asian University (SAU) – is an internationally renowned university with a high reputation in postgraduate research and teaching- has announced one faculty member and two non-faculty member vacancies and is looking for exceptional and highly qualified, experienced scholar and non-teaching staff.

The following positions are currently available.

  • Professor (Economics) – One position – USD 30,000 to 45,000 per year
  • Registrar – Grade I A: US$ 30,000 to 45,000 per year. Maximum Age Preferred: 54 years as on 30 April 2021.
  • Director (Admissions & Examinations) – Grade I B: US$ 27,000 to 40,000 per annum. Maximum Age Preferable: 54 years as on 30 April 2021.

Who can apply?

  • Nationals of eight SAARC Member Countries are particularly encouraged to apply for these vacancies.
  • To apply for the teaching position, applicants should be excellent scholars, with great international recognition, whose research and teaching interests will contribute to the available academic programs of SAU.
  • For non-teaching positions, candidates should be experienced professionals in their relevant.

Specifically, the eligibilities for vacancies separately are:

Professor:

Important Qualifications: 

  • D. degree from a reputable University/Institution; and Master’s Degree in pertinent subject area with a grade of at least 60% or corresponding grade (for Science subjects); OR with at least 55% marks or corresponding grade (for Social Science and Humanities).
  • Post-PhD research and/or postgraduate teaching experience of 12 years (minimum) (excepting the period spent for gaining the research degree).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Research publications of high reputation in journals.
  • Experience in directing doctoral research and a productive research group.
  • For laboratory-based research in sciences, demonstrated ability to secure research funding from National / International granting agencies.

Registrar and Director of Admission:

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Experience:

  • Hold a master’s degree with at least 55% marks or corresponding grades, with a minimum of 15 years related professional experience in progressively responsible positions in a University/large academic institution including at least 8 years as Deputy Registrar or above (the experience requirement is 15 years of which at least 8 years is as a Deputy Registrar or in progressively responsible positions)
  • Successful applicant must own comprehensive knowledge of and experience with policies, regulations and academic criteria;
  • The DoA must have an exhaustive understanding of Admissions, transfer credit requirements, degree verification, pre-conduct, and post-conduct examinations and graduation procedures and processes, transcripts, academic record-keeping, and the ability to use initiative, build priorities and catch multiple deadlines.
  • ability to understand rules and regulations and enforce them in varying circumstances; be able to manage web applications, intricate administrative databases, and technology-based management information systems- for Registrar;
  • Experience in using necessary computational tools, databases, web applications, and technology-based student information systems including a fair understanding of examination software and result automation
  • Experience with management of an office and evaluation of employees;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively;
  • Outstanding writing and speaking skills;
  • Robust ethical convictions and a commitment to quality service; and
  • The ability to proficiently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

Selection process

A Steering Committee will review applications and invite shortlisted candidates for interview. Teaching and communication ability are essential to the evaluation process.
