Competition Summary

In order to recognize women entrepreneurs supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), World Bank Group, Wharton School’s Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research, UN Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Women, have organized an online competition for female entrepreneurs. Women business owners of microenterprises are invited to attend the SDGs & Her online competition. Participants will be able to share best practices and innovative ideas through their business operations.

About SDG:

17 Sustainable Development Goals were signed in 2015 by all 193 UN member countries to “create the future we want in 2030” and transform our world:

GOAL 3: Good Health and Well-being

GOAL 4: Quality Education

Who can participate?

  • Be a Woman
  • Owns a small scale business or have a leading role in microenterprises
  • The enterprise has 1-9 employees
  • Under 10,000 USD dollar loan eligibility or annual sales under $100,000

Prizes: 

In the margins of the 2018 UN General Assembly High-Level Week in New York, top winning women entrepreneur will be announced in an event in September and partners will share their stories through websites and media.

How to enter the competition:

Entrepreneurs are required to complete an online application, and explain their business that how it supports and links to one or more Sustainable Development Goals.

Selection criteria

A partner university and an expert panel will evaluate the entries. Winners will be selected based upon their perspective and goal, clarity and the influence on the SDGs.
