Monash University offers some renowned top-up graduate research scholarships each year to help support graduate research students pursuing education in relevant Humanities and Social Sciences study areas with allocated living costs. Eligibility criteria
i) General criteria
To be eligible for these scholarships, you must be:
- An Australian national
- A New Zealand citizen
- A permanent resident of Australia
- Bearing Australian humanitarian vis
- An International student

ii) Specific criteria
You must meet the requirements below:
- have submitted a scholarship application in the ongoing year;
- be conducting research in the below-mentioned study areas and faculties;
- have an Australian or New Zealand bachelor’s degree with First Class Honors (H1) or credentials and/or research experience considered equivalent by the University;
- have not done a graduate research masters or Ph.D. degree at the same degree level;
- are or will be enrolling via internal (on-campus) mode;
- entitled to a maximum scholarship duration of over 12 months equivalent full-time as a result of the previous enrolment in a graduate research degree;
- have not already held an Australian Government or Monash-funded Postgraduate Research Award for more than six months.
- Meet Monash’s English language proficiency requirements.
- In case you are a new applicant, you must have achieved an Expression of Interest (EOI) from the related faculty before starting your application for a Monash scholarship.

Selection process and evaluation criteria
Mainly, Monash scholarships are too competitive, and students can receive them based on their academic background, any research achievements, and prior research experience. Therefore, Monash scholarships reward merit and lend you a helping hand to achieve your ambitions, irrespective of your conditions.
In addition, the standard RTP Scholarship terms and conditions as set out in the RTP Scholarship Procedures apply, with the exceptions stated in the terms and conditions specific to these scholarships.
How to apply?
Application for graduate research scholarships takes place at the time you apply for your course only if you are not already enrolled. One application is used for both admission and scholarship. There is no need to specify which scholarship you are applying as you are automatically considered for all graduate research scholarships (where qualified).
