The following well-known universities, in partnership with more than 11 universities and international NGOs, offer NOHA-EMJMD program in International Humanitarian Action with support of the Erasmus+ scholarship of the European Union (EU):

Purpose of the Program:

The main goal of this program is to educate highly committed and interdisciplinary students who are working or intend to work at all levels of humanitarian action and contribute to enhancing humanitarian assistance and sustainable activities, develop a global and comprehensive vision of conflict, disaster, and related situations, and ability to respond to new humanitarian challenges.

Benefits of the NOHA-EMJMD Erasmus+ Scholarship

This program offers the following benefits for successful applicants of the NOHA-EMJMD Erasmus+ Scholarship:

Contribution toward Participation costs:

  • Citizens of participating countries will receive a contribution of up to €4,500 per year.
  • Students from partner countries who are not residents and have not studied, trained, or worked in any program nation for more than 12 months in the previous five years will earn up to €9,000 annually.
  • Partner country students who are residents or have studied, trained, or worked in any project nation for more than 12 months in the last five years will receive a contribution of up to €4,500 per year.

Travel costs:

  • Programme country student: €1,000
  • Partner Country Student:
  1. €2,000 per year if living fewer than 4,000 kilometers from the EMJMD coordinator.
  2. €3,000 per year if you live more than 4,000 kilometers from the EMJMD coordinator.

Contribution to installation costs:

The installation scholarship amount is per the residency location at the time of the student scholarship application deadline.

Only students from Partner Countries are eligible for a contribution to installation costs (€1,000 per intake). It is an incentive to assist in covering the additional costs associated with issuing visas, residency permits, and many more.

Living Allowance:

€1,000 per month for both Programme and Partner Country Students for the EMJMD study program (up to 24 months).

Notes:

  • Students will not be paid a monthly allowance while in their home country.
  • Students are only entitled to a three-month allowance when studying in any Partner Country.

Who Can Apply for the NOHA-EMJMD Erasmus+ Scholarship?

The NOHA Master’s in International Humanitarian Action is for people who work or want to work in humanitarian relief. Candidates’ selection criteria completely depend on their education and professional experience, involvement in and concern for humanitarian causes, multicultural awareness, and linguistic talents. Also, all applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • All candidates should follow the NOHA+ group’s shared application procedure.
  • Hold at least a bachelor’s degree (EQF level 6) in humanitarian action fields: Medical science, food sciences, engineering, law, social sciences, education sciences, economics and management, humanities)
  • Be proficient in the language of instruction: English (CAE or CPE: C1, TOEFL 550-600 PBT, iBT 93, IELTS5), Spanish (B2), French (C1)
  • Students who have previously received an EMJMD scholarship or an Erasmus Mundus Master/Joint Doctorate scholarship are ineligible to apply for another award under the EMJMD activity.
  • EMJMD scholarship holders are not eligible for another EU-funded scholarship scheme to pursue the same EMJMD course throughout the course.
  • Applicants who fail to follow the application guidelines, such as failing to provide one or more requested documents or submitting them in the incorrect manner or format, may be deemed ineligible.
  • Be from one of the following countries:
  1. Program Countries:the 28 European Union’s Member States (Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain, UK) and the EEA-EFTA states countries (Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey).
  2. Partner Countries: All other countries, including Afghanistan, are referred to as partner countries.
  3. * Specific groups of partner countries:
    – Western Balkans: 1 scholarship
    – ENI South: 1 scholarship
    – Asia – LDC countries: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal): 1 scholarship
    – Asia – remaining countries (China, India, Indonesia, DPR Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam): 1 scholarship
    – L-LMI countries of Central Asia: 1 scholarship
    – Latin America LMI countries (Bolivia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Paraguay, Nicaragua): 1 scholarship
    – South Africa: 1 scholarship
    – ACP countries: 1 scholarship
