Participants of different nationalities can meet N.I.H. scientific staff working in health disparities research at NIMHD and across N.I.H. institutes and centers. The HDRI annual training program at the NIMHD includes lectures on health disparities research and minority health. Also, this program contains small group discussions, seminars, and mock grant reviews.

The main focus of the lecture and seminar is on the etiology of health disparities, research methods and measurement, research design, and intervention and implementation of research. Consultations are available for participants on developing a research interest into an application, particularly R21, R01, and K awards. Moreover, they will be preparing research strategies and methodologies for proposed studies.

The HDRI aim is to support early-career minority research career development in health. In addition, the program supports health disparities research scientists and inspires studies in the disciplines supported by health disparities science. Applications from individuals fulfilling N.I.H.’s early-stage investigator (E.S.I.) eligibility criteria are welcome.
