Overview
Application for the Women In International Security (WIIS) the 2021 Next Generation Gender, Peace and Security (GPS) Symposium is now open with a tight deadline. Are you a young professional interested in advancing your knowledge about gender dimensions of international security challenges? If yes, you can apply to Next Generation Gender, Peace and Security (GPS) symposium to examine international security challenges from Gender, Peace and Security viewpoints.

Program content:
The symposium will be organized virtually in 9-11 meetings to enhance the knowledge of fellows about international security challenges.
Particularly, The symposium will consist of:
- Research and writing presentations with thorough and focused feedback from senior professionals and policymakers;
- Skills-building workshops, including media-training workshop;
- Participating in a mentor network and networking opportunities;
- Participation in a Next Generation Alumni meeting, including a substantive workshop and public event;
- Publication Channels.
Symposium benefits
- Successful participants will become WIIS Next Generation Fellows and will be honored on our website.
- WIIS Next Generation Fellows will receive complimentary memberships to WIIS entitling them to WIIS member benefits like access to publications, mentorship opportunities, and invitations to exclusive events and other networking opportunities.
- NGS 2021 Fellows will also connect with an exclusive mentorship and networking platform linking them with former NGS Fellows.
Who can participate?
- Be a young professional who has an MA or Higher degree or a student currently enrolled in a Master’s degree or PhD in the fields of International affairs, security studies, gender studies, anthropology or related fields. (Fresh graduates, as well the applicants who will be enrolled in master degree next year will also be considered.
- Be at the age of 25 to 40.
- Have fluency in written and spoken English.
- Be able to participate (Virtually) in the entire scheduled programs of the NGS.
- All genders are encouraged to apply.
Fellows’ responsibility
In the year after the program, the participants will have to produce one blog post. Additionally, they are invited to present a research or writing project to contribute to WIIS’s policy brief and brief monographs.

- Interest letter describing the reason why s/he is interested in the symposium, and how his/her education, experience and background contribute to the symposium, his/her interest in research, and how this program enhances his/her future career goals
- Research or writing project summary the applicant would like to present at the POLICY roundtable (250-500 Words)
