Opportunity Description

The Stanford University John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships 2024–2025 are now accepting applications. The university is looking for journalists keen to explore, identify, and test ideas for enhancing people’s access to the news and information needed to build and sustain strong democratic communities.

Applicants should be willing to take time away from their professional duties to devote themselves to this work and the fellowship programming we’ve devised to assist them in developing the leadership resilience required in these unpredictable times.

A JSK Fellowship is a one-on-one experience supplemented with twice-weekly cohort activities, including leadership courses, skill training, and discussions with guest experts.

Aside from these duties to the cohort, fellows can decide how they use their time and address the media challenge they want to focus on. Each fellow meets with one of the JSK directors, who regularly serves as their primary adviser for the year.

They provide JSK Fellows specialized coaching, a peer group, and direction that inspires professional and personal growth throughout the 10-month fellowship. Additionally, fellows will have the time and freedom to access and study this top-tier university’s resources. In particular, they want to support people who are working to support underrepresented communities.

You may for this opportunity if you meet the following criteria:

  1. Do you want to advance as a journalist and leader and believe you will have the finest work?
  2. Are you excited to receive coaching through an evaluation of your attitude, self-perception, and place in journalism?
  3. Are you interested in gaining the right to be “in fellowship” with journalists from various professional and personal backgrounds?
  4. Seek, accept, and prioritize diversity.
  5. Are you willing to put present job obligations aside and go on a 10-month professional and personal exploration journey?
  6. Are dedicated to a career in journalism.
