Opportunity Description


IRDR (Integrated Research on Disaster Risk) offers Young Scientists program for young people through providing them the opportunity to participate in the research of IRDR DATA and RIA working groups and training programs offered by IRDR. Postgraduate, PhD candidates, Post-doctors and young faculties who are under the age of 40 are encouraged to apply.


The main purpose of this program is providing the following opportunities for the successful applicants:

  • Increasing awareness and engagement opportunities with Sendai Framework
  • Provision of technical support in DRR fields
  • Expanding the global network of experts in DRR fields
  • Participate in training programs
  • Get a certificate for IRDR young scientist upon successful completion of the program

Deadline: December 31, 2018

Duration: 1 year – 3 years

Location: Beijing, China


Who can apply?

  • Be under the age of 40
  • No restriction in nationality. Applicants from any country can apply
  • Be affiliated with an academic program (master or doctorate) either as a student or as young faculty member
  • Have selected the research relevant to Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Have the endorsement of an academic supervisor (student) or head of department/ graduate school (young faculty)
