Application for 300 Hong Kong Fellowships is open for the academic year of 2023/2024

If you want to pursue your doctoral studies and do your research at Hong Kong Universities you can apply to Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship (HKPF). Outstanding students from around the world are invited to apply to this fellowship. The fellowship provides a great research opportunity with excellent financial support covering expenses and will provide a competitive annual stipend and conference and research-related travel allowance per year for up to three years.

Since the establishment of this fellowship in 2009,  one thousand and eight hundred students from different universities have been benefited from this program.

The Hong Kong Ph.D. fellowship benefits:

The HKPF offers a fully funded fellowship that includes the following:

  • Annual stipend of HK$325,200 (USD 41,690) equals to HK$27,100 (~US$3,474)
  • Travel cost of research and conference about HK$13,600 (USD 1740) per year
  • Applicants applying to a  PhD requiring duration of more than 3 years will receive additional support from the university.

More support offered by universities:

  • City university Entrance scholarship: applicants at this university will receive (around HK$89,496/~USD11,473) to cover the full tuition fee, and on-campus hostel accommodation expenses in their first year of research studies.
  • Hong Kong Baptist University offers shared accommodation, an Outstanding performance scholarship  and entrance award  and a tuition fee waiver
  • Almost all universities offer accommodation and some of them provide additional support. Please check your university of choice linked below.

Eligibility

  • Be from any county of the world.
  • Seeking to be a new full-time PhD student in one of the Eight outstanding universities in Hong Kong
  • No restriction on prior work experience or ethnic background
  • meet the admission requirement of the selected university which usually include the following:
    • Having a degree by research or a taught master’s degree or a bachelor degree with first-class honours
    • Advance English language proficiency

Application

Applicants who want to apply to this program should submit an initial application online at Research Grant Center (RGC). After receiving the reference number the applicants can submit their full application to their selected universities. Applicants can select up to two programs at one or two universities.
