Competition overview

An international photo competition named Children’s Peace Images of the Year is launched for young people around the globe. This competition is part of the Global Peace Photo Award, which is inspired by the 1911 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Alfred Fried and Tobias Asser. Anyone from around the world aged 14 or younger or photographers , in general, can submit their photos and projects individually or with groups and win 1000 Euro plus a trip to Vienna, Austria, with their parents.

• Shortlist announcement: 15 July 2021
• Result announcement: 17 September 2021
• Award ceremony: 21 September 2020

Competition organizer: Alfred Fried photography award by the Deutsches Kinder- und Jugnedfilmzentrum (KJF)

Partner organizations: UNESCO, Parliament of Austria, the Austrian Parliamentary Reporting Association, the International Press Institute (IPI), the German Youth Photography Award, and World Press Photo.

Your Ideas:

• In which perceptive you look to peace? Describe your idea, create your positive attitudes visible in photos, reflect on your imagination about peace, and let the world know what does peace look like to you.

Awards:

• The top five photos will be awarded  Alfred Fried Peace Medal.
• The children’s peace of the year image will receive about €10,000
• The winner with his/her parent will participate in the award ceremony.
• If a group wins the award, one of the members of the family will attend the award ceremony.
• The winning photos will be showcased in the international exhibition that is the largest outdoor photo festival in Europe.

Who can take part?

• The global peace photo award is open to all photographers across the world.
• The “children’s peace of the year image” is open to submission by teenagers/children aged 14 years or younger.

Selection criteria:

• An international jury committee will select the photographs on artistic merit, originality, subject, and style in view ot the theme of peace.
