Opportunity Description

The Citizen Participation and Inclusive Governance course is offered by The Hauge Academy for Local Governance for local officials, civil societies, or anyone working for development and government. In addition, the course allows participants to discuss ways to involve citizens, minorities, and marginalized groups to build a culture of inclusive governance. Moreover, the participants will know how civil society can empower the citizens to voice concerns and keep their governments accountable for issues affecting their community.

Participation Fee:

The course cost € 3,595. This includes all training-related expenses, refreshments, and hot lunches on training days. You will receive a group discount if you participate with 3 or more colleagues.

  • Upon completion of this course, you will obtain a professional certificate of completion from The Hague Academy for Local Governance.

Learning Objectives:

By joining this course, participants will learn the followings:

  • Define your position and duties, as well as the roles of your partners, in participation processes.
  • Define the circumstances required for open government, including available data projects.
  • Develop initiatives to increase the inclusion of excluded groups, such as women and youth, in decision-making processes.
  • Specify the criteria, as well as the dos and don’ts, for practical participation projects.
  • Determine tools for promoting social accountability.
