Opportunity Description

Applications for Artificial Intelligence Fellowship are now open for international applicants at the Goethe Institute. Applicants, including coders, developers from the Global North and Global South, and generally artists, philosophers, sociologists, lawyers, and activists, are welcome. The fellowship prefers a mix of the team from both genders, male and female. Therefore, interested women, people with disabilities, applicants without a degree, and diverse professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.

Artificial Intelligence Fellowship is a two-month online Fellowship Program with the theme “AI to Amplify”—the program consists of seminars, workshops, and networking events commencing in May 2023. The online sessions will occur about twice a week for 2 hours each. Remember that applying for the fellowship is not an application fee or extra charge.

The benefits of this online Artificial Intelligence Fellowship are as follows:

  • The training program is free of charge;

  • Seed money for six winning teams to further development of their prototypes and deliver them at a conference in the Global North;

Requirements for Artificial Intelligence Fellowship

All candidates should meet the following requirements to apply for the Artificial Intelligence Fellowship:

  • Applicants should be from the Global South or Global North;
  • Should be coders and developers in particular or artists, philosophers, sociologists, lawyers, and activists in general;
  • Be involved with applications or products that use artificial intelligence;
  • Should be interested in teamwork.

Artificial Intelligence Fellowship’s Timeline Details  

The Timeline Details of the Artificial Intelligence Fellowship’s details are as follows:

  • Until 20 March 2023:
    Application deadline for coders and developers from the Global South and Global North
  • May 2023:

Start of the two-month online Fellowship Program, including seminars, networking events, and workshops

  • July 2023:
    Two-week hackathon where applicants will develop ideas for AI applications in diverse teams. Also, the selection of six ideas or teams for further development.
  • August or September 2023:
    Six teams will receive an invitation to a physical meeting relevant to an AI conference in the Global South. This meeting will help applicants’ network, improve the product idea, deal with the local circumstances, and participate in the conference. Stipend and regular online coaching will be available for further development phases to expand the idea within the six teams.
