Job summary

Citizen Organization for Advocacy and Resilience (COAR) is recruiting 25 community mobilizers for Ghazni who will work to implement its designed community Project. Interested applicants may read the details below and apply accordingly.

Job Description:

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Start baseline research of chosen communities, and continuously monitor social change and new social information relating to community empowerment;
  • Determine potential leaders, Elders, and/or organizers;
  • Motivate and stimulate potential leaders to talk to their fellow community members concerning the importance of education.
  • Take actions seeking to break down passivity, apathy and mentalities of letting others do things for them;
  • Improve awareness of the community members about the need for education;
  • Help community members to determine needs and to make solutions, as well as specify priority issues and analyze their problems;
  • Encourage community members to mobilize for action aimed at resolving their problems and to plan, execute and oversee action that they define themselves;
  • Provide community leaders with management skills and knowledge in how to get community members involved, organized and motivated;
  • Build trust, tolerance, and co-operation among community members;
  • Help the community in achieving existing outside resources, warning of the negative effects of becoming too reliant on external resources;
  • Encourage full participation by all community members; with particular attention to those who are usually forgotten, sidelined, and overlooked in community decision-making;
  • Help the community in gaining information and knowledge that they may access through governmental and non-governmental organizations, through extension and outreach programs; and
  • Assist the community members in boosting their own capacity and strength to the extent where they no longer need the services of mobilizers.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree holder.
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in Social mobilization.
  • Ability to work at the camp level.
  • Great report and planning skills
  • Strong local community knowledge.
  • Proficiency in local language and robust working knowledge of English & Urdu language (preferable)
  • Work experience with community-based projects
  • Ability to travel to the project fields within the assigned camp/ district
  • Both individual and teamwork ability to undertake tasks in a fast-paced atmosphere.
  • Must be flexible, willing to do urgent tasks when required during the informal time.
  • Should be self-disciplined and motivated critical thinkers who are willing to work under stress to catch deadlines.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including patience, tact, eagerness to listen, and respect for colleagues.
