⚠️ Important Deadline
If you have not received an appointment through the waiting list by 01 May 2026, you will not receive one through the old system anymore. All new appointments must be booked through the Consular Services Portal starting 01 June 2026.
What Has Changed?
The German Embassy’s Visa Section for Afghanistan, based in Islamabad, Pakistan, has launched a new online application system through the Consular Services Portal of the Federal Foreign Office. From June 1, 2026, all visa applications for employment and study purposes must be submitted exclusively through this portal.
This is a significant improvement for Afghan applicants who previously had to navigate a complex in-person appointment process. The new system is designed to be faster, more transparent, and more efficient — and it puts more control in the hands of applicants themselves.
How the New Portal Works
📤 Step-by-Step Upload
Upload your documents easily and securely, step by step. The system guides you through each required document.
✅ Online Feedback
You will receive online feedback on whether your documents are correct and complete — before your appointment.
📅 Self-Booked Appointments
Once your documents are fully uploaded, you can independently book an appointment based on available slots — no more waiting in line for an appointment.
⚡ Faster Processing
Complete applications submitted from the start will be processed first, leading to appointments more quickly. The new system leads to much faster overall processing times.
📍 Where to Apply:
After completing your online application, you will attend your appointment in person at the Afghanistan Visa Section in Islamabad. The portal prepares you fully before this visit so everything is in order when you arrive.
