Opportunity Description

If you are a U.S. or an international student willing to enhance your leadership skills, you can apply to a fully funded leadership program sponsored by the Hansen Foundation. The Hansen Leadership Institute (HLI) provides scholarship and team-building, public speaking, negotiation, and mediation training for international challenge solutions. Following are the three main categories that you can benefit from:

Leadership Training at HLI:

HLI specializes in training Hansen Fellows in effective, ethical, and visionary leadership principles and practices. Communication and public speaking skills are honed to ensure impactful leadership. Recent expansions include a focus on gender issues in leadership. The three-week intensive program transforms into a dynamic virtual hub where Hansen alumni connect, engage, and support each other’s peace and community-building projects.

Mediation and Conflict Resolution:

HLI excels in providing top-notch training in mediation and conflict resolution, emphasizing the art of peace-making and developing interpersonal skills. Fellows are equipped to communicate across cultural and political divisions, emphasizing reconciliation and restorative justice. Human rights training, led by a seasoned human rights activist, is integral to addressing conflicts.

International Cooperation and Lifelong Connections:

At the core of HLI is cultivating deep friendships and solidarity among Fellows from worldwide conflict zones. Graduates become lifelong members of an international community, fostering opportunities for service, education, and cross-border friendships. The three-week program serves as an annual experiment in international cooperation, transforming initially diverse roommates from warring countries into close friends with a shared commitment to peace.
